How does the mobile OS business grow? One option is the sales of software applications for the smartphones.  Apple’s tactics were simple: (1) provide free and simple to user development tools for the iPhone, (2) provide developer support programs offering training, technical and business support, and  (3) a web-based medium to sell the applications.  The results?  As of this writing, there are over 1,100,000 mobile applications have been developed for the iOS.
