The Carrier WiFi and Small Cells Value Chain

The industry has traditionally followed a very simplistic value chain, with the chain beginning with WiFi, small cell and wireless network infrastructure manufacturers such as ip.access, Airvana, Ericsson, Cisco Nokia Siemens Networks or Huawei and ending with Carriers, and ultimately their services to subscribers.

However, with an ever increasing need for convergence, network management and the additional demand for back-haul capacity, the value chain has evolved overtime.

Consequently fixed line carriers with backhaul capacity to spare will also play a leading role in brokering capacity for Carriers services to end subscribers via small cells.

Small Cells and Carrier WiFi are both important aspects of HetNets.
